A little bit about me...
I am a former Berkeley Lake Bear and a Duluth high school graduate. I graduated in 2008 from Georgia Southern University with a degree in Early Childhood Education. I am currently working on my masters degree in Accomplished Teaching which I should complete in May. This will be my fourth year teaching and my third year in kindergarten (which I love!!!).
I enjoy going to the pool and the gym. I have a dog named Honey, and she could quite possibly be the most spoiled dog alive. I like taking walks with Honey, but she only walks when it is not too hot, too cold, or too wet...try that in Georgia weather... I love reading and cooking, especially anything by Paula Deen. I am a coffee addict (what teacher isn't?). I am also a TV and movie fanatic! It takes no time at all before I am hooked into a new show.
I got engaged in December and I have been enjoying planning my upcoming wedding on November 12th. My fiance and I are high school sweethearts and this has been such a special time for us!

We have been having a blast!
The past two weeks it has been great getting to know all the wonderful students in our class. We really have a great class full of big personalities! We have created a set of class rules, and the class has begun to get accustomed to all the routines that are involved in a day of school. There is a lot to remember.
Here is what we have been learning:
Math: We have been learning about shapes. Many students already know about the basic shapes such as: squares, triangles, circles, ovals, and rectangles. However, now they are learning new vocabulary to go along with their knowledge of shapes. We have learned that diamonds can be called a rhombus. We are learning about sides and corners. Soon, we will begin introducing "space shapes" or three dimensional shapes such as: cubes, spheres, cones, and cylinders.
Reading: We have begun reading color words and identifying them around the classroom. We are also discussing parts of a book including author and illustrator.
Writing: For writing the students are learning that there are many ways to tell a story. The students are practicing writing a story using pictures. Their pictures must include when, where, and who. The students are also encouraged to label their pictures using names and beginning sounds.
Social Studies: The students are learning the importance of rules and citizenship.
Science: Starting in the next week or so the students will begin learning about the 5 senses.
~~~ANNOUNCEMENTS~~~
CHECK THE DATES SECTION FOR MANY UPCOMING EVENTS!!!
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE send your child to school with a snack! This is important!! The students get very hungry and then grouchy and they learn less when they are thinking about food.
TENNIS SHOES!!! We play outside EVERYDAY and we have P.E. at least once a week. Trust me, I love cute shoes as much as the next girl, but save the cute shoes for at home or on the weekends. At the very least, put a change of shoes in your child's book bag. THANKS =)
